Mark and Rachel are so fun-loving and charismatic that it’s a real pleasure being around them. Their wedding was a grand occasion where two sets of family and friends from opposite ends of the world came together to celebrate their love.
And what a backdrop! The Montelucia Resort in Paradise Valley was an oasis in the middle of the Arizona desert landscape.
Rachel and her all-American girls joining forces with a crew of Aussie boys from Sydney's eastern suburbs - it was quite a spectacle.
The biggest challenge was the 40 degree heat that we endured during the location photographs - but that’s Arizona for you. I managed to shoot from the pool at one point though!
Kelly & Dael
I love photographing for creative people so when Dael, a director and photographer, and his fiance Kelly approached me to shoot their wedding I was all ears. Dael, a great bloke, put no pressure on me and just told me to ‘do my thing’ which I appreciated no end.
And what a wedding it was. The setting was sublime, a sandstone hilltop residence in Elizabeth Bay which tiered down to a harbour frontage.
An intimate and touching ceremony took place on the main tier overlooking the water where the celebration continued, bathed in sunshine, all day and long into the night.
Kelly was a stunning bride, all the more radiant for the fact she was pregnant with twins. The wedding was a true celebration of love and family and i am thankful for the opportunity to play my part in such a memorable occasion.
Peter & Ellie
I put my heart and soul into photographing weddings as I believe it to be a real privilege to be able to capture memories for people that will last a lifetime. The beautiful email I received from Ellie and Peter following their wedding which summed up what the photos meant to them is one that i’ll cherish. It’s always great when your efforts are appreciated on the same level you hope them to be. Ellie wanted a bit of a fashion edge to the location photography mixed with candid and natural, which I really enjoyed shooting down at Jones Bay Wharf. Ellie ever the elegant bride and Peter her tall, dark and handsome groom. A perfect day.
Laura & Jez
I was welcomed like an old friend from the first time I met Laura and Jez so by the time the wedding came around I really did feel like a guest. I love how quickly people can connect and it feels like you’ve known them for ages.
The forecast for the wedding day was all over the place so we prepared for everything..and everything was what we got. The relaxed beach theme still rang true in spite of the rain and the sunny state of mind eventually paid off with pockets of sunshine hitting when we needed them most..like a walk down on Freshwater Beach. For the location photography we hugged the coast from Manly to Whale beach where the reception was held at Moby Dicks.
Laura and Jez were up for anything and even let me lead them down onto a cliff face to take in the full ocean views.
Sam & Pat
I was thrilled at having a new city to work with as inner city Melbourne was the setting for one of the most amazing weddings i’ve had the pleasure to photograph. Sam and Pat are two of loveliest people you are likely to meet and that was reflected in every moment of an incredible day.
The guests arrived to a warehouse setting, styled to perfection, with a loft area for the ceremony where an emotional bride and groom pledged their vows. And it was every bit the Melbourne i had conjured up in my head as we walked around the streets and alleyways for the location photographs with the low afternoon sun funnelling between the buildings.
With Pat being an actor the reception was filled with talented people, entertaining everyone at every chance, capped off by a theatrical dance routine by Pat and Sam.
Sofie & Kai
When Sofie and Kai revealed to me the plans for their wedding I couldn’t wait to get started. There’s a great little harbour spot called Redleaf Pool and up above overlooking this is Blackburn Gardens where the ceremony was held.. and it was perfect.
Sofie and Kai are such an adorable couple who literally can’t keep their eyes of each other, madly in love.. they certainly gave me plenty of time to capture their kiss at the ceremony! Kai wears his heart on his sleeve and is never far away from a smile or a hug, and as you see in this portfolio Kai and Sofie were a real pleasure to photograph. I never get tired of witnessing how happy the bride and groom are, surrounded by all their loved ones, having the time of their lives.
Annie & Tim
Annie is a bit of a photography aficionado so when she contacted me about photographing her wedding I was quietly a little bit chuffed..no pressure though!
People flew in from all over the world to witness Annie and Tim declare their love and commitment to each other in a wedding that was never too far from the shores of Sydney harbour.
A light sprinkling of rain added atmosphere to the Botanical Gardens ceremony in which their gorgeous little daughter almost stole the show. And on the way back to Hunters Hill, the ferry ride was blessed by spots of sunshine as the champagne flowed.
The whole wedding was really a photographers dream, with so much activity and such amazing light. I was buzzing all day capturing beautiful candid moments.
Fiona & George
Fiona and George had one request - to have a stress free wedding. And even when rain forced the garden ceremony inside at the last minute it was exactly that, stress free. They are a gorgeous down to earth couple, creative and stylish, and a joy to be around.
Their wedding was held at Margan in the Hunter Valley which was an ideal setting for their intimate celebration. A stroll around the vineyard was perfect for the location photography which was candid and fun and Fiona and George were beaming with happiness.
As soon as everyone was seated for the reception to begin, the storm hit.. perfect timing.
Matt & Rebecca
I instantly connected with Matt and Bec over a coffee in Bondi, their energy and sense of fun was infectious from the start and is the reason why their wedding stands out for me as one of the favourites I have photographed.
Their wedding ceremony was held at the historical chapel within the grounds of Kincoppal Rose Bay and the reception took place overlooking the harbour at Ripples Milsons Point.
The location photography showcased our gorgeous Sydney Harbour as we stopped off at Nielsen Park and Walsh Bay. I love to keep the location photography relaxed and natural and not over complicate or over direct, it should always be fun and it certainly was on this day.
The dark clouds that threatened at every turn did nothing to dampen what was a memorable celebration and Matt & Bec’s love and devotion to each other was humbling for everyone to witness. And I was lucky enough to photograph it all.
